[ENGLISH] Vienna Photo Journal was a daily photo blog which I updated from March 2010 until April 2011. Currently this blog experiences an indefinitely long intermission though it is still online and you can browse through all posts. You’ll see many different pictures from around Vienna and from some special places (e.g. Frankfurt, London). Almost all of the photos are retouched – some more, some less.

In the event that you are interested in what I’m up to take a look at this list:

[DEUTSCH] Unvorhersehbare Umstände (weder gut noch schlecht und gleichzeitg etwas worüber ich nicht in diesem öffentlichem Rahmen schreiben möchte) bringen mich dazu diesen Fotoblog vorzeitig zu beenden. Ich bedaure sehr, dass dies so unerwartet und schnell geschieht.

Aber…
1. das heißt nicht das ich fort bin – ich bin nur etwas mehr leise und schraube auch die Zeit die ich online verbringe zurück obwohl ich nicht komplett verschwinden werde;
2. falls ihr noch immer an großartigen täglichen Wienfotos interessiert seid (und ich weiß, das seid ihr) ersuche ich euch unbedingt Vrenis Blog viennadailyphotobyvreni.blogspot.com anzusehen – und zwar täglich;
3. ich werde weiterhin Fotos schießen und sie auf meine Fotoseite quip.smugmug.com hochladen. Vielleicht möchtet ihr einen Blick darauf werfen oder meine Webseite neteschal.com hin und wieder besuchen um Informationen zu meinen unausbleiblichen zukünftigen Projekten zu erhalten;
4. genau zum jetzigen Augenblich kann ich nicht sagen ob, falls und wann ich Vienna Photo Journal wieder starten werde, will oder möchte. Sehen wir einmal was die Zukunft bringt.

Es hat Spaß gemacht hier zu schreiben. Ich werde es vermissen und besonders werde ich euren Beitrag zum Blog vermissen.

[ENGLISH] Unforeseeable circumstances (neither good nor bad and at the same time not something I want to write publicly about) prompt me to put an untimely end to this photo blog. I am very sorry that this happens so fast and so unexpected.

But…
1st this does not mean that I am away – I am just more silent and also reducing the time of my online presence though I will not be completely gone;
2nd if you are still interested in brilliant daily Vienna photos (and I know that you are) I implore you to visit Vreni’s blog at viennadailyphotobyvreni.blogspot.com … daily.
3rd I will still continue shooting photos and will upload them to my photo-site quip.smugmug.com. You might want to take a look at it or visit my website neteschal.com every now and then for information about my inevitable future projects.
4th right at this very moment I am not sure whether, if and when I will, want or might restart Vienna Photo Journal. Let the future decide.

It has been fun writing for as long as I have. I am going to miss it and I am absolutely going to miss your input.

[DEUTSCH] Eines von vielen Hochhäusern im 22. Bezirk. Ich seh’ es hin und wieder wenn ich von der Arbeit mit der U1 nachhause fahre.

[ENGLISH] One of the many tall buildings in the 22nd district. I see it every now and then when I go home by U-Bahn from work.

[DEUTSCH] An diesem Bild gibt es etwas das mich wirklich stört. Vielleicht ist es die Leuchtkraft der Farben, vielleicht auch der Mangel an Details (man sieht nur einen kleinen Teil der Donauinsel, ein bisschen vom zweiten Bezirk und im Hintergrund das geschwungene OMV Hauptgebäude). Oder es ist etwas ganz anderes…

[ENGLISH] There is something about this photo I really don’t like. Maybe it’s the brightness of the colors, maybe it’s the lack of details (you can only see a small bit of the Donauinsel, part of the second district and in the background the curved OMV HQ). Or maybe it’s something else…

[DEUTSCH] Das St. Anna Kinderspital spezialisiert sich auf die Behandlung von Kindern und Jugendlichen bis zum 18. Lebensjahr.

[ENGLISH] The St. Anna children hospital specializes in the treatment of children and teenagers up until their 18th birthday.

[DEUTSCH] Das letzte Mal als ich diesen Holzaussichtsturm, welcher das Bauareal des Hauptbahnhofes überblickt, besuchte war ein starker Sturm. Der Turm stand fest am Boden, ich weniger.

[ENGLISH] The last time I visited this wooden observation tower, which overlooks the construction yard of the central station, strong winds forced their ways through the air. The tower stood still on the ground, I did not.

[DEUTSCH] Der Schatten der Statue welche vor der Piaristenkirche  Maria Treu steht.

[ENGLISH] The shadow of the statue which is in front of the Piarists parish church Maria Treu.

[DEUTSCH] Die Pinguine werben für die Penguinfactory – eine Kursstätte für Keramik im 9. Bezirk.

[ENGLISH] The penguins advertise for the Penguinfactory – a course house for learning ceramic in the 9th district.

[DEUTSCH] Wie versprochen ist hier ein Bild der illuminierten Fontäne vor dem Russendenkmal am Schwarzenbergplatz. Die Farbe wechselt alle paar Augenblicke, es sieht wunderschön aus. Flux im Sinne von Wasserfluss.

[ENGLISH] As promised earlier here is a picture of the illuminated fountain in front of the Russian monument on Schwarzenbergplatz (square). The color changes every few seconds, it looks gorgeous. Flux in the sense of water flow.
